How to Get Applications to Open Automatically at Login February 13, 2007

Vinzy

This is just a quick tip to speed up your productivity on your Mac. This is a simple feature that is extremely useful and can be done by just two simple clicks.

So what if you are someone that always wants their email to open automatically when their computer starts up? Or what if you are someone who constantly goes on Safari when you boot your new Mac up?

The process is easy, simply click and hold (or right-click on) the application on the dock that you would like to open automatically every time you start your computer. You will see an option called Open at Login, click that. If you click and hold it again you will see it is checked, like the picture below.

The example I used is for Apple Mail. So on my computer, when I start it up, Mail opens automatically. Consequently my email is checked instantly as soon as I am logged in. This can be very useful but make sure you dont have too many programs to open at login because it will slow down the startup once logged in. Also, make sure to brag to your Windows loving friends how much easier it is to do this on a Mac.
