Some Microsoft Windows clients may not be able to connect to the Mac OS X Server VPN service if the Mac OS X Server is behind a NAT (Network Address Translation) router or firewall. This article applies to Windows XP (SP2), Vista, and Windows 7 clients.

When using Address Book in Mac OS X v10.4 through v10.5.8 to print mailing labels or envelopes, the names that print above the address will include the prefix, suffix, first, middle, and last names on the card you have selected, along with any related names on the card that are labeled as spouse, partner, child, father, mother, parent, brother, or sister. These related names will appear on the label or envelope if no card exists for the related name, or if another card exists for the related name which contains the same address as the card you are printing

The Apple FTP server in Mac OS X Server v10.5 and v10.6 can accept both IPv4 and IPv6 connections.

In Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7, when syncing iPhone or iPod touch with Address Book (Windows XP), Contacts (Windows Vista), Windows Contacts (Windows 7), or Yahoo, the first time you sync in iTunes 7.7 or later, you may see a warning that all of your contacts will be changed.

Reviewer John Welch (macworld.com) calls Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard Server an “excellent” upgrade, awarding it 4.5/5 stars. Praising the unlimited client license (“Get more, pay less.”), new features like Address Book Server and Mobile Access Server, and improved scaling from refinements in the OS, Welch concludes: “For an all or mostly-Mac network, this isn’t an if upgrade, but a when, especially if you have iPhone users clamoring for push services.”

Apple today seeded to developers a new build of Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.2 (Build 10C514f). The seed is said to contain dozens of minor bug fixes and performance improvements in these areas: Address Book, AppleScript, AppleScriptObjC…

If you no longer recognize half of the names in your address book, it might be time to clean house.
