30 Sep 2009“Cambridge, Mass.-based car-sharing service Zipcar this week launched an app that lets you locate and reserve one of its vehicles, unlock it using the iPhone touch-screen and drive it off the lot,” reports Jefferson Graham (usatoday.com). Graham notes that while there are many iPhone apps for autos “Zipcar’s app is the first to control the operation of a car.”

7 Aug 2009Filed under: Gaming , Software , Developer , iPhone , App Store , SDK Apple’s iPhone simulator built into Xcode is nice, but it doesn’t completely replicate the actual feel of playing with an iPhone (not to mention that things like multitouch and accelerometer info can’t be tested on screen). Enter iSimulate , a new app from a company called vimov. In conjunction with a program on your Mac, it allows you to take the input (including multitouch and accelerometer) of an iPhone, and wirelessly connect it to an app running on your monitor . The effect, as you can see above, is basically an iPhone controlling a big-screen app. Which has all sorts of possibilities.

Their purposes differ but most of them are designed to let you manage your movie queue. A new player is about to enter the arena: Netflix itself, who intends to bring “Watch Instantly” video streaming to the iPhone/iPod touch and the Nintendo Wii. At present Netflix streams over 12,000 movies and TV shows over a large variety of devices including Intel-based Macs .
