When you upgrade to Final Cut Server 1.5, you may see the following alert during the upgrade process: “The installer has detected an incompatible database schema version number for the upgrade.” This occurs if you restored the Final Cut Server database from a backup created in the Final Cut Server preference pane in System Preferences under Final Cut Server 1.0.

A backup you create from the Final Cut Server preference pane in System Preferences may not contain a properly configured postgresql.conf file. When you restore to a clean system, a default file may be created in its place; this file will not contain any changes you made to improve the performance of your database.

Specifically, he wanted to keep Backup’s icon from frantically jumping in the Dock like so many hepped-up toddlers in a bouncy castle. The Backup icon typically bounces in the Dock for a minute two before it even begins backing up any data. We know what you’re thinking, “Just go to the application’s preferences and disable the Dock animation.” The problem is that Backup has no preference pane! Fortunately, TJ found a fix
