Before an existing Aperture 2 library can be used with Aperture 3 it must be upgraded. This process occurs when you open your library with Aperture 3 for the first time. There are several stages to the upgrade process, some of which are optional. This article outlines the various stages of the library upgrade process and offers some tips on getting up and running as quickly as possible.

Some mail server settings and data may not be automatically preserved when migrating or upgrading Mac OS X Server v10.4 and v10.5 to Mac OS X Server v10.6. In order to preserve or re-create these settings, read the instructions in this article prior to upgrading or migrating your Mail server. Important: Follow the instructions in the Upgrade and Migration administration guide

When migrating a web server from Mac OS X Server v10.4 to Mac OS X Server v10.6, follow the instructions in the Upgrade and Migration Guide available at this website. In some configurations, the apache1_config_helper command, described in the Upgrade and Migration Guide, may report “JkWorkersFile: Can’t find the workers file specified”. This may occur if your Mac OS X Server v10.4 web server has mod_jk enabled, for example for the blog service or Tomcat support.

Important: Follow the instructions in the Upgrade and Migration administration guide. The below article supplements, but does not replace, those instructions. Some Wiki service server settings may not be automatically preserved when migrating or upgrading Mac OS X Server v10.5 to Mac OS X Server v10.6. These include: Clear Text Authentication (enableClearTextAuth) may not be enabled. Web Calendar may not be enabled.

When you upgrade to Final Cut Server 1.5, you may see the following alert during the upgrade process: “The installer has detected an incompatible database schema version number for the upgrade.” This occurs if you restored the Final Cut Server database from a backup created in the Final Cut Server preference pane in System Preferences under Final Cut Server 1.0.
