View (dictionary) definition of any word November 29, 2006
Did you know that the dictionary application built in Mac OS X allows you not only to lookup a word definition by right clicking on any word in any window and selecting “Lookup in dictionary”?

Mac OS X goes even further by letting you see live definition of any word without even opening the dictionary. You can achieve this by putting your mouse pointer on the word of your choice and hitting the keyboard shortcut CTRL+CMD+D

Please keep mind that you can actually change this default shortcut to what suit you best as follows:
1. Go to System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse
2. Click on the tab Keyboard Shorcuts
3. Scoll down until you see Dictionary under Description as shown in the picture below.
4. Then click inside the shortcut field for Look up in Dictionary and press the new keyboard combination that you want to replace it with.

You are done! See, looking up a word’s definition does not have to be that hard.
